Epic Games announced that they will not release the new season of its famous game Fortnite for iPhone or Mac due to the fight with Apple. Because of the battle for their payment policies, the new updates from the App Store has been stopped by Apple and even on other Apple devices. Apple as well as Google had deleted Epic from its App Store because the developer launched its own in-app payment system.
Apple has stopped Fortnite updates and new installs from the App Store and they will terminate their ability for developing Fortnite for Apple devices. For this reason, Fortnite has released Chapter 2 – Season 4 update (v14.00), which will not be obtained on iOS and macOS from August 27. To play Fortnite on Android, Fortnite from the Epic Games App can be accessed for Android from Fortnite.com/Android or the Samsung Galaxy Store.
After the latest developments, Apple is not capable of restoring Fortnite on the App Store, which is announced by the first court ruling by US District Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers. Judge Rogers had granted a temporary restraining order against Apple, which indicates that they never cut access to Epic’s Unreal Engine. The Court announced that Epic Games’ motion which included Fortnite, Epic Games has not irreparable harm yet.
Apple reported that it will restore Epic if they follow the App Store guidelines. Apple also said that they are thankful to the court for considering that Epic’s problem is totally self-inflicted. Their first priority is to make App Store users a great and safe experience including Fortnite players and who are looking forward to an updated version.
Judge Gonzalez-Rogers already agreed with them about Epic to cooperate with the App Store guidelines and for continued services. If Epic follows the steps that the judge has recommended, Apple will add Fortnite back onto i0S. They are now looking forward to their case to the court in September.
