  • Facebook updates Messenger, Instagram DMs with new features

Social media platform Facebook has updated its Messenger services on Instagram, which is enabled for cross-platform messaging recently. The company announced an update of Instagram DMs by launching a new Messenger experience on the app.

Users can now receive messages from Facebook Messenger on Instagram and respond instead of switching apps and vice versa. Users can choose where they want to receive messages and calls in their message requests or not. This new update is introduced in select markets but will be launched globally soon.

The new features of the Instagram and Facebook Messenger integration are mentioned below:

Facebook has added almost 10 new features on Instagram such as replying or forwarding a specific message and customizing their chat with themes and colors.

Users are now enabled to watch videos on Facebook Watch, IGTV, TV shows, movies, through a video call which was introduced for Messenger users earlier this month.

The ‘Vanish Mode’ feature allows messages to disappear after they are seen or closing the chat. The messages will vanish automatically by using these features after they are seen.

The new selfie stickers with the combination of emojis, selfies, and Boomerang helps the users to create boomerang stickers with their selfie in conversation.

There is an option to create a shortcut of favorite emojis for reacting in messages. The new Animated Message Effects allow the users to add animated effects to messages.

Facebook has also improved privacy control strategies in messaging apps. Users can now report entire conversations with single messages on Instagram. Users can choose who can message them and who can’t as additional security.

There will be “proactive blocking suggestions” available across Messenger and Instagram after adding their account to the Accounts Centre which is a new tool that allows users to connect their accounts through Facebook.
