Instagram is a social media platform that allows people to upload photos and videos through a mobile application. Instagram users can add a caption, use hashtags related to the post, and location-based geotags.
With over a billion registered accounts, Facebook saw Instagram as a tough competitor but instead of competing against Instagram, it bought Facebook for $1 billion in 2012. Chances are many if you use one of the platforms, you will like to use the other one. Linking your Instagram and Facebook has many advantages.
However, if you want to remove the Instagram account from Facebook, you need to go through simple steps :
- Open the Instagram app on your mobile or tablet device.
- Then go to your profile page and tap three horizontal parallel lines (menu) on the top-right corner of your screen, there you will see different options.
- At the bottom of the options in the menu, click on “Settings”.
- On the “Settings” page, tap the “Account” option.
- Under the “Account”, find the “Linked accounts” option. You will see the “Facebook” option showing your name on the Facebook account.
- Click the “Facebook” option and tap “Unlink account”(iOS) or “Unlink” (Android) to disconnect from Facebook.
- A pop up will come asking you to confirm your choice to disconnect both accounts.
- Tap “Yes, Unlink” to complete the process.
Disconnecting your Instagram and Facebook accounts doesn’t need to be done permanently. At any time, you can relink the two accounts through the same menu options that are used to unlink.
If you want to do a link again, you must enter your login details and permit Instagram to access your Facebook account to re-establish cross-posting between the two platforms.
