Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg said he is thrilled that WhatsApp has been accepted to announce payment across India. His declaration came after the messaging app rolled out clearance services for its users.

Through this provision, people across India will be able to send money through WhatsApp.

WhatsApp has outlined this payment feature in association with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) using the Unified Payment Interface (UPI).

To dispatch money on WhatsApp in India, it’s necessary to have a bank account and debit card in India. WhatsApp sends a guide to banks, also known as payment service furnishings, that launch the convey of money via UPI between sender and receiver bank accounts.

“Now you can dispatch money to your friends and family through WhatsApp as comfortably as sending a message. There’s no fee, and it’s supported by more than 140 banks. And because it’s WhatsApp, it’s assured and exclusive too,” Zuckerberg said in a video message.

“It’s safer than handing someone cash and eliminates the need from standing in line at the bank. So you can swiftly send money to families and friends that may be miles away across the country,” he said.

“With UPI, India has designed something truly special and is opening up a world of occasion for micro and small businesses that are the backbone of the Indian economy. India is the first country to do anything like this. I’m pleased we were able to assist this try and work together to help achieve a more digital India. I want to thank all our partners who’ve made this viable,” he added.

Payments are accessible now in ten Indian regional language versions of WhatsApp.
