  • Twitter to launch new features to put an end to domestic violence in India

Twitter India has partnered with the National Commission for Women and the Ministry of Health and Welfare to especially help women who want to fight to raise voice against domestic violence.  Twitter noticed that in the backdrop of COVID-19 domestic violence cases have increased rapidly. So, they decided to offer a search prompt for women and it will serve information and updates from authoritative sources regarding domestic violence.

The search feature will be available on iOS, Android, and mobile.twitter.com in India and will be available in English and Hindi language that will make it easier to understand by people.

When users will type some keywords related to domestic violence then it will directly connect them to the main pages of the Ministry of Women and Child Development and the National Commission for Women. On these pages, there will be helpline numbers and other various pages regarding women’s help and several NGO numbers and their links to seek help from them.

The words included in this prompt will be dowry, gender violence, gender-based violence, lockdown violence, marital rape, prevention of sexual harassment, and domestic violence.

Several women are unable to contact the regular support systems. By this feature on Twitter now women are a bit safe, they can call help by typing some keywords related to domestic violence and several help options will be provided. It will give big support to women and survivors. Many NGOs have collaborated in this to give a safe and better world to women and to ensure that they are safe wherever they are.
