Arogya Setu is now open source

The National Informatics Centre has announced that the Arogya Setu app will now be open source for developers. Arogya Setu is a mobile application that was developed by the government of India to connect health services with people to fight against COVID-19. The motive behind launching this app was to give information about the country’s condition to the users of the app and how they can maintain social distance with the help of alerts given by the application.

Recently, The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology announced that now the Arogya Setu app is open for developers and financial rewards will be given to security researchers who will find flaws in this app or suggest any improvement in the source code. With the help of this open-source, the developers can look at the code of the application and can suggest any improvement or they can also develop a similar app for health or safety purposes.

Aarogya Setu’s Bug Bounty Programme has been announced to search security researchers and the developer’s community to test the security system of the app. With this step, the government is trying to look for talented youth developers who are experts in technical fields and can help the government and country to find a secure solution to help the health workers and public to fight against COVID-19 pandemic.

It will be an important step to bring a new platform for the developers as well as the changes brought to this app will help us to fight against this virus and secure our people’s health. This will lead to a ray of hope in the hearts of Indians.
