On Wednesday Railways announced its plans to permit the private players to work for passenger trains on their network by inviting requests for qualifications (RFQ), for participating in 109 pairs of routes through 151 modern trains. As per reports, this project would lead to a private sector investment of over Rs 30,000 crore and it will be the first initiative for private investment for running passenger trains on the Indian Railways network in history.
