The oil ministry is eyeing the InvIT (Infrastructure Investment Trust) the route to monetize pipelines value over Rs 6,000 crore contract by India’s largest gas utility GAIL, charting a new course for lifting funds for the government as the pandemic panic big-ticket disinvestments such as of Bharat Petroleum. The Dabhol-Bengaluru and the Dahej-Uran-Panvel pipelines will be the first to be monetized. “There could be gradual dilution, said in tranches of 10-20% stake, to begin with, but GAIL will retain a majority stake,” one official said.
