India’s gold imports fall to 1.4 tonnes

As lockdown was imposed International air travel was temporarily banned and jewelry shops were closed that led to the decline in India’s gold imports with 99 percent in comparison with the previous year. About 1.4 tonnes of gold was imported to India in May by the world’s second-largest consumer, down from 133.6 tonnes a year ago and now they have declined to be identified. According to the reports, India’s imports declined to $76.31 million from $4.78 billion a year ago.
