Why does your website need to be mobile-friendly?

Digital marketing has become a subject of major consideration for all kinds of businesses. One major factor in it is how to drive search traffic towards your website and as the major traffic comes from mobile devices, Google focuses on optimizing mobile-friendly websites.

How can you improve your ranking on Google?

Google has given the topmost priority to “Mobile Page Load Speed” for ranking on Search Engine Result Page (SERP) since July 2018. Previously, the ranking of a website was based on the desktop version of the site.

Google is managing about 94% of the total organic search traffic worldwide so you must include mobile optimization while investing in website optimization.

How to determine whether your website is mobile-friendly or not?

Google has made a tool on Google Search Console to check if your website loads on mobile devices easily.

  • Just, plug in your website URL, and Google will tell you whether it is mobile-friendly or not under its present algorithm.
  • One more way is you can plug in the code for your website to test if your website is mobile-friendly or not.

Google also says that if the slower sites have great content they may still be given priority in ranking on Google. So, organizations must select the right technology and the right plans to provide both relevant personalized content and performance on mobile.

Mobile Optimization is more than ranking on Google SERP

By mobile optimization, your website ranks among top websites and get more traffic on the site. As the use of smartphones has increased over the past few years, users are searching directly from their phones instead of using their PC or laptops so if your website is portable according to it, then search becomes easy for them.

Your mobile-friendly website is also easy to navigate. Designing a mobile-friendly layout is not an easy task, you have to design easy-to-push buttons and a perfect vertical scrolling so that users can search comfortably on mobile phones.

A lot of horizontal scrolling, dropdown menus, and small-check boxes, etc. may irritate the user on your website.

How to do mobile-optimization?

The more the work your website needs, the more you have to optimize on mobile. You might even hire a web developer. Google suggests some steps that you can do yourself to make your website responsive along with better user experience on mobile devices.

  • Visit Google’s guide to mobile-friendly sites. This page offers many options to make your website more mobile-friendly e.g., you can adjust the display to fit various screen sizes using responsive web design.
  • To see how optimized your website is to be viewed on mobile, take Google’s “Mobile-Friendly Test”.You can either test a single page or many pages and see how Googlebot views the pages while loading search results.
  • Use Webmaster tools to give a “Mobile Usability Support”, which helps to identify any issues with your site when operated on a mobile phone.

Mobile Optimization is important to increase your page traffic or SERP ranking. A mobile-optimized website is in accordance with your digital marketing strategy and helps you in remarketing efforts. When it comes to capturing mobile visits, staying on the top of search engine algorithms’ perspective to mobile websites is crucial.
