WhatsApp’s upcoming “Expiring Media” feature will be called “View Once”. As the name suggests, this feature will make the files disappear after the recipient leaves the chat. Expiring media was spotted on the beta version 2.20.201.1.
WhatsApp’s feature tracker shared the screenshots from the beta version 2.20.201.6 showing that WhatsApp will inform the recipient about this feature via a pop-up message. It reads, “The media will disappear once you leave this chat.” The report says that if you send a media by selecting the View Once option, the recipient would only be able to see it once.
WhatsApp hasn’t announced the release date of this feature because it is still developing.” Another screenshot displays “View once photo expired” once the recipient exits a chat. There will be a button to activate View Once media files.
Apart from this, WhatsApp is also working on a multi-device feature that has reached the final stage of testing. It will allow you to use the same WhatsApp account from 4 different devices at a time. You don’t need an internet connection on your phone to run WhatsApp so, you can run it on the WhatsApp desktop when your phone is off. With a huge user database around the world, WhatsApp is planning to take this experience of sending disappearing messages and media files to the next level.
