US to pull out of the Open Skies Treaty

Blaming Russia of non-compliance with Open Skies Treaty Trump administration recently said that the USA will pull out of the treaty. Signed on March 24, 1992 this treaty came into force on January 1, 2002. This treaty permits its 35 state-parties to conduct reconnaissance flights over each other’s territories. The treaty aims to reduce the chances of accidental war through mutual openness. The US pulling out of the treaty has come as a setback to the world’s arms control framework.
