The government is all set to increase the investment in highway construction by 400% in 2021-22 as compared to 2014-15. The government is also planning to construct 12,000 km of National Highways next year. Giridhar Aramane, Union road transport and highways secretary said, “Additional funding resources are being tapped and a private statement of Rs. 30,000 crore is being predicted in 2021-22 in highway projects.”
